What we do

The Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) is a UK-wide charity offering support, information and training on acquired brain injury in children.

The impact of acquired brain injury on a child and family is enormous and lifelong. Families are often unprepared to deal with the issues and often unaware of the services their child will need or how to access them. Families remain at the heart of CBIT's work and we respond to their needs in the following ways: Child and Family Support

Child and Family Support is a unique way of working, providing local support, information and opportunities to children and families affected by an acquired brain injury

  • Child and Family Support Officers in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North East of England
  • Dedicated helpline - 0845 6014939 or helpline@cbituk.org
Support groups for families across the UK
  • Opportunities for families to direct CBIT's work at a national level
  • Fund for children and young people
  • Events across the UK
  • Acitivity holidays for young people

Training and Information
CBIT provides both training and information to professionals and families across the UK

  • One-day and half day workshops for staff in health, education, social services and youth justice
  • INSET days
  • Publications for children, families and professionals
  • Training for parents
  • Factsheets for young people, parents and professionals
  • Website
  • DVD for parents relating to education
  • Links to other organisations

Raising awareness
CBIT works hard to make people more aware fo the issues faced by children and families affected by an acquired brain injury. We do this because we believe that we can make a difference to the lives of children and families.

  • Influencing policy and decision making
  • Partnership working with statutory and voluntary organisations
