During Brain Injury Awareness Week in 2005 CBIT launched a guide for families entitled:

Swimming through Treacle
A family's guide to services for children with an acquired brain injury in Wales

This guide was written following in depth discussions with families across Wales and addresses the issues that they felt families needed to know more about. It deals with topics such as:

After it happens
Returning home
Social Services
Education
Legal Support
Alterations to your house
Mobility
Financial Support
Complimentary/ Alternative Therapies
Moving into adulthood
Useful information

This guide is readily available free of charge from CBIT. To recieve a copy, please call us on 01869 341075 or email info@cbituk.org. Alternatively, by clicking on this link you can download a copy from the website in either Welsh or English.

CBIT has a support group for parents in South Wales and you make contact with this group by clicking on this link (link to Wales, family support groups). CBIT has been unable to secure funding for Wales due to the demand from a multitude of voluntary organisations. We are, however, very aware of the issues facing families throughout the country and have developed partnerships with other organisations based in Wales in order to ensure that we can continue to raise the profile of acquired brain injury.
