The Child Brain Injury Trust’s work in Scotland has been supported
by families and individuals who have taken on a challenge for CBIT! Fundraising
can be hard work but it is always fun and rewarding. The money raised
help us continue to provide support and information, days out and holidays
for young people and much more!
If you would like to do something for CBIT, look at the fundraising page
for ideas or get in touch on 0131 229 1852.
The Child Brain Injury Trust have been given five places for the Great Edinburgh Run, on Sunday 4th May 2008. This promises to be a fantastic event, with stunning scenery and all for a great cause! We are looking for five runners to take on the challenge and ‘run for it’ for CBIT. If you are interested, or if you know someone else who would take on this challenge for CBIT, click on the link for more information.
Here are a few examples of the inventive ways that people in Scotland
In
2004 Lynn Fraser decided to ‘chop it all off’ for CBIT. She
went under the scissors and said goodbye to her long locks (which were
so long she could sit on them!). Lynn, who’s sister Alie has had
a brain injury, roped her whole family into fundraising for CBIT, and
between Jim, Theresa and Alie they got half of Livingston to give them
money… Well done for achieving a hair-raising £1500 for CBIT!!
In 2005 the good people of Penicuik rose to the challenge set by Karen
Smith, whose daughter has an acquired brain injury. Karen organised a
sponsored pub crawl around the town, followed by a party and theme was
‘the 1970s’….Everyone had a fantastic time, and Karen
even got her employer to double the money….raising over £2000.
What superheros!
Sara
Clegg, who lives in Glasgow, had an amazing (and very generous) idea to
raise funds for CBIT. She decided to ask for money instead of birthday
presents. She had a birthday party with her friends, and everyone gave
her a contribution. Thank you Sara for this fantastic gift!
Kelly
McKenzie arranged a fundraising party at her local bowling club in 2006.
She got every business in South Queensferry to donate prizes and held
a massive raffle. There was entertainment and Kelly even undertook an
evening of research in order to create a CBIT cocktail, devised in our
red and blue colours…
Charlotte
Jeffrey marched her Mum along the West Highland Way in order to support
her local CBIT group in West Lothian. She got lots of sponsorship from
friends and family. Her donation has enabled the West Lothian CBIT group
to have a trip to Beecraigs Park, a Barbeque and a pizza night. Thank
you and congratulations to Charlotte and co.!
In
2007 Marie-Anne Syre from Edinburgh donned her trainers and ran 10K for
CBIT. Marie-Anne says “A few months ago, a friend made me discover
this charity and I was really impressed with the compassion, ingenuity
and helpfulness that the staff at CBIT display to provide their support.
The difference they can bring to the lives of kids and their families
is truly amazing and certainly inspires me”. Marie-Anne raised £485
in less than 10 days fundraising, by setting up a justgiving website.
