Include Me In Website

The Include Me In website offers practical guidance for parents, families and organisations to help and support young people with acquired brain injury in the North East of England.

It is based on regional good practice and covers recent DfES/DoH legislation and recommendations.

It provides a practical guide to

  1. The successful inclusion of young people back into their school and local community
  2. Each phase of a young persons recovery and how you can help
  3. Working together to best support young people with ABI, their parents and families
  4. Contacting people and organisations who can help

There are sections for

  • Parents, family and friends
  • Young people with ABI – specially written and  designed by them
  • Brothers and sisters – specially written and designed by them
  • Voluntary Groups
  • Health and social care workers
  • Education workers – extensive guidance for a full range of staff in children’s services, schools and colleges

Education/Hospital Specialist Centre ABI Commitment

This document is outlined on the site and is the starting point for a framework of communication and interaction between children’s services, the regional specialist centres and local area health care services.

Directors of children’s services, leaders in hospital trusts and PCTs are invited to use this framework as a basis for good practice.

You can access the site at www.includemein.org
